Lewis R. Firestone Jr.
(1875-1906)

Rich Hill Cemetery

Lewis R. Firestone Jr. was born on Nov. 1, 1875 in Bullskin Township near Connellsville, Fayette County, PA, the son of Lewis and Sarah Ann (Rose) Firestone.

The mists of history have shrouded much of his life, other than our knowledge of his untimely death.

Lewis never married.

When the federal census was enumerated in 1900, Lewis was age 25 and unmarried and resided with his parents and sisters in Bullskin Township, Fayette County. The census-taker recorded that his occupation was farm laborer.

Lewis secured work in the early part of the 1900s as a flagman, employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

Worry and grief blanketed the family in mid-November 1906 when Lewis contracted typhoid fever. He suffered for 17 days until there was no hope.

At age 31 years, one month and two days, on Dec. 3, 1906, Lewis passed away. He was laid to rest in the Firestone family plot at Rich Hill Cemetery near Connellsville, Fayette County.

A tall gravestone marks his final resting place, sadly, along with three other siblings who died young.
