Dear sister one & all

this pleasant sabath morning finds me trying to answer you most welcome letter of the first. I am sitting by the south window in the big room whare the cool breez can come in. this leaves us all well & hope it will find you injoying the same blessing. Lesses folks are all well. Blanchie is well again. Mable said tell you she had gone to sunday school to get her little paper. she enjoys going to sunday school very much and she is growing like a wead. Well our big supper went off pretty nice. had lots to eat and a big house full. Wish you could have been thare. you would not have thought thare was lack of enything to eat in Kans. Cakes pies bread and butter chickens roast ham pickles beats & just all most everything you could think of. & a week ago last friday the ladies aid socity had an ice cream supper at the school house for the benefite of the minester and took in $18.00. you said you wer getting Sets for butter. you ought to send it out here whare it is a big price. it is all the way too 4.00 here but then we dont halft too buy or have eny to sell at such a big price. dick is at kingman working at the salt wels. he has had some more luck like he had with Browns. the last time I heard from him he had not got enything for working on the railroad. said he did not know whether he would get it or not. Well hellen we got that rain that we neaded so bad the next day after I sent my last letter. No we are not burning out in this part of Kan. but I guess thay are in the Extreme Western part but thay never have raised eny thing out thare. I have got 40 acker of corn & 10 of wheat & 8 of oats & 5 of milet. Corn & wheat looks nice. corn is from knee high too shoulder high. I have laid by one pice of my corn. We are going to have just lots of potatos. Pa says tell you he is working at his old traid that is wriding on the same old machine that he wrod on in Mo cutting wheat. I will cut my wheat in a fiew days. Oh yes We got another big rain last Wensday night. of it did rain afful hard. Every hole is full of watter. well I will halft to get some more paper or else quit. & you would scold if I did that. it is about time for our folks too come home from sunday school and I guess thare is some one coming with them. at least thay said thay would. it is Mr gipsons folks that lives west of us thay are very nice folks. thay came from the lodge up here and bought a farm. yes We see Mrs. Williams once in a while. thay are getting along very well. We wer over thare at her place too or three weks ago at a big duncard meeting. had a real good time.

(3) Well i have began on the rong side of this paper but I guess you will make it out all right. No I dont hear Enything more about the Indians. I am not eny afraid of them coming up here. thay are too lazy. we wer sory to hear of Ross being sick. I asked Mable if she would like too be up thare too wait on him & she said she would mak him laugh. We are have bad luck with our chickens. thay are dying with the Colrie. we have lost over half of them so we dont have eny chicken to eat. Well we might have cooked some of the dead ones for the fiest. I never thought of that till now. I guess thar would have fixed some of them so thay would not have eat so much. Well thare is preaching this afternoon. I guess if the preacher comes up here we will give him some of them too eat. you know the preacher hast too have somthing too eat. We cant eat them and iff he will eat them thay will not be wasted. Well now I do wish I could have been up thare on my birthday. I would shure have got away with your cake. you would not want too sling cake around me if you did not want it eat up. yes I was 38. an old Kan bach. You said Ellen was trying too mak a mach. I guess I will halft to come back and look after her. faith and I guess ill not do eny such thing for dont want her. (after dinner) Well the folks have gon too meeting. gipsons was here for diner. Pa beat Will on his hogs. he got 3.50 for his. sold them to Roby & Roby lost many on them. I dont know wether eny of us will get up thare this fall or not. Sue said she wanted too go iff she could. that is what all of us would like too do but have not got the money too visit on. Well I will close as I want too write too dick. Write soon. Love too all
