Nett-Helen Letters

Letter from Helen to Nett - Undated

Return to Index

Blanche has come in with a boquet of horse mint & thinks it pretty.

Uncle Eli B. Miner

Uncle Eli is awful clever to come & visit you often. wish I could have a visit from him. & Ellen says tell Nett she knose how good your bread & butter tasted. she often talks about floddie & the big tears wells up. I expect Sarah & Ann will scotch about one dress. they never shall now how cheap it is. for they would make fun of it & if they think it cost a good bit they will be ready to talk about it & say I cant afford it. Well I cant as cheap as it is but I guess it wont break us up. it is cheaper in the long run then cashimere & so much prettier for a summer dress. it dont require trimming like thier lawns covered with oriental laces. Belches girls got $15 worth of lace to put on white dresses. the fronts are lace. ell has got new black cashimere & velvet triming & she dont ever get away from home. I guess if she lives at Japs she will always have to stay. they dont go anywhere. & make fun of them.

Later Tuesday morn & it is cloudy & cool. so cool I am cold. last night at six mercury stood 102 in the sun. I wish you was here. you could take a peep all over if wanted to. some things are like they use to be & some I have improved by touches here & there. You would say my windows was pretty. my east window is full of hanging vines from top to bottom. they are doubling back from the floor & going up again. & myrtle there but some of the plants are in dining room window & I have a red lamberquin in there made like yours & looks pretty. some plants on porch. I dont raise any morning glories. the Jessimine run them out but is to dry for that even. they started up the entire length of the ole kit chair but failed. that does go well. & I must close. Write Pa. Late Dick & Less & Sue never says one word to us.
