Marshall "Ellsworth" Rowan (at left, in the window), was a telegraph operator for many years for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. He was one of many cousins in our family to work in the transportation industry, vital to the economic growth of Western Pennsylvania in the late 1800s and 1900s. This view depicts the B&O office at Bidwell, Fayette County, PA. Ellsworth was the son of Allen H. and Annie (Linderman) Rowan of Maple Summit, PA. Ellsworth's late grandson, Wilbert Don Jordan of Fairchance, PA, was aptly dubbed "the walking encyclopedia of Fairchance history" by the Uniontown Herald-Standard.
