Theodore E. Miner was born in May 1872 in or near Southington, Trumbull County, OH, the son of John and Elizabeth Miner. He apparently never married, and with his bachelor brother Calvin Miner were longtime farmers. When the 1900 federal census was taken, Theodore labored as a hired man on the farm of Lewis and Phobe Stroub in Southington. Theodore and Calvin boarded in 1910 with the family of George and Elmina Garstenshlager in Jefferson Township, Ashtabula County, OH. They worked for their landlord as laborers in his saw mill.
By 1920, the brothers had purchased their own farm, in Trumbull Township, Ashtabula County, and resided under the same roof. They remained on this farm for at least a decade, and are shown there together in the federal census of 1930. At some point, Theodore retired from farming and moved to near Massillon, Stark County, OH. He suffered from liver cancer and died in Massillon State Hospital at age 68 on Nov. 29, 1941, just a few weeks before our nation was plunged into World War II. Theodore's remains were buried in Massillon.
