Abraham Youngken Sr. (1745-1790) -- originally "Junghenn" -- was born on Oct. 2, 1745 in Tinicum Township, Bucks County, PA, the son of German immigrants Johann "Herman" and Magdalena Youngken. At the age of seven-and-a-alf months, baby Abraham was baptized on May 19, 1746 at the Tohickon Reformed Church, by the hand of Rev. John "Conrad" Würze, also spelled "Wirtz" and "Wurts," with the father standing as his son's witness, an unusual practice.
Abraham wed Elizabeth Wyker ( ? - ? ), daughter of Nicholas Wyker. Together, they bore a trio of known offspring, Nicolaus Junghen, Abraham Younkin Jr. and Mary Overholt. Abraham is said to have died in 1790. If so, his wife was expecting a baby at that time, as their son Abraham was not born until March 1791. ~ Son Nicolaus Junghen ~ Son Nicolaus Junghen (1788- ? ) was born on Aug. 25, 1788 in Tinicum Township, Bucks County. Nothing more about his life is known. ~ Daughter Mary (Junghen/Youngkin) Overholt ~ Daughter Mary Junghen/Youngkin ( ? - ? ) was born on (?). She was united in marriage with Isaac Overholt ( ? - ? ), often spelled "Oberholzer" -- "Oberholtzer" -- "Overholser" -- and others. She may be the same woman as "Elizabeth Overholt" -- daughter of Abraham and legal heir -- who was wed to "John Overholt the Traitor," as reflected in records researched in 1991 by Barbara B. Ford of Wallingford, PA, genealogist of the Overholser Family Association. If so, this "Tory John" was born in 1738 in Bucks County, was loyal to the British cause during the Revolutionary War, and died on Staten Island, NY in 1780. Tory John is referenced in the February 2003 Overholser Family Association Bulletin. All of this needs to be confirmed.
