Kerry Grimm carved this morel mushroom from a tree stump as a gift for his sister, Peg (Grimm) Mansberry. Her initials are included in the detail, though it must be studied to be found. Writes Peg, "Kerry and his wife and I go out hiking early each spring in search of morel mushrooms. Kerry had made a similar carving (with a chain saw) from a tree stump in my yard but it rotted away over the years. He surprised me with this polyurethaned version for inside the house. I know it isn't everybody's idea of an object d'art, but I like it and I have it in a corner of my dining room. I sure hope somebody keeps it and its story after I am gone." Peg and Kerry are the great-grandchildren of Jennie (Enos) Snyder and the great-great-grandchildren of Joanna (Minerd) Enos of Normalville, PA. Click for next artifact Copyright © 2006 Mark A. Miner.
