Above: Kingfisher, Oklahoma - In April 1889, James R. and Lydia (Miner) Brown left their Kansas home and took part in the famed 'Oklahoma Land Rush' which was the legal, formal opening of the Oklahoma Indian Territory to settlement. The Browns staked their claim about one mile west of Kingfisher. This postcard view shows the town's Main Street circa 1910.
