Sunday, August 17, 1997 with record-breaking heat, the air-conditioned home of David and Vickie was welcomed by the thirty-five guests to the 33rd reunion of the family of David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh.
David and Vickie had set up the back yard with tents and umbrellas, but the humidity was so great (temp. 99° and heat index 105-110) that all visiting, eating and games were held inside. Irene reported that Jeannette L. Passwaters was now living at the Milford Manor and would appreciate family visits. Lois and Harry traveled from their home in Florida, stopping off in Myrtle Beach to join their sons and families for a week’s vacation before traveling on to the Laughery Reunion. Lois reported that Keith and Mary Ann had moved. Lois made a motion for the dues to be changed from $5.00 per family to $1.00 per adult because the bank was growing so large and until we can find a good need to use it. The motion was seconded by Vicky B and was approved by all. The amount collected was $28.00. The 1996 balance was $241, making a total of $269.00. Susan was paid $18, for the entertainment and oretta was paid $20, for the stamps, envelopes, and a new signature book, leaving a balance in the bank of $231.00. Lois said she would try to get in touch with Don Laughery to update the family tree information. The family had three off to college this September:
Susan T. Powell was in charge of the entertainment. The 1998 Reunion will be held at the home of Loretta & Clayton. Submitted by,
