Dear Aunt Uncle & Cousins
I will try & say something but I expect Late has told all the news. but maybe I scrape up something to write about. Well this leaves us all well and enjoying the same good blessings of health. we were at our annual S.S. picnic. Well supper is over & the work done and it is about bed time. the evenings are so short. Well Aunty we have beat you this time on having "taters" & beans. but the beans are soon withered & died. it was so dry. and our cucumbers died to. the sun was so hot on them that it just cooked them. Mabel has got two new dresses. one white and the other is a calico. it is cloudy and the wind is blowing from the north and it looks as though it might rain. I wish you were out here. we would just have a fine time I think. I dont know whether you think so or not but I do if you don’t. We have not thrashed yet, have you? Have you seen any of Uncle Will McCarties lately? Hark!! I hear it raining. Well my paper is about full & I have written enough I will close.

Stalks of Kansas corn |
Monday morning
Dear Aunt
we have learnt a new way to put up corn. put it down in a jar or keg. just which you have. cut the corn off the cob & put down a layer of corn & then a layer of salt and then a layer of corn & then one of salt and then put a weight on it. just the same as you would on pickles. And then when you go to use it take it up & soak it about half a day and then cook it & it will taste like new corn. I think it would be a good way, dont you? it rained quite a little shower this morning. the corn needs no cooking before you put it down. write soon and dont do as we have done. Hope you have had a rain there before this time. Well if I were up there I believe I could talk better than I can write. Give my love to all inquiring friends. I am your niece
