Dear Blanche & Babys,
Emma is awful bad this pm. She is getting weaker all the time. she is in lots of pain now. She can't last much longer. How is you and the babys getting along? I shoure would like to be at home with you kids. It is raining here this morning. Blanche, I don't know what to do about going to Mo. Beleave I will back out and come home. I cant do her any good and I am awful homesick to see you and the babys. The Dr thought Emma would sure go last night but she is still alive. don't think she can stand it much longer. She don't eat any thing atall. Uncle Late can do that listing if he wants to if I go to Mo. well Sweetheart I will close for this time.
With love for you all.
Good by. Papa
[Editor's note: Jesse Thomas Peterie's sister Emma stayed at Laredo, MO when the rest of her family moved to Isabel, KS in 1903. She died young, leaving two young children.]
