George "Albert" White was born on Aug. 24, 1885 in Hopwood near Uniontown, Fayette County, PA, the son of George H. and Helen "Ella" (Daugherty) White

He lived with his parents and four siblings in Pittsburgh in 1900, when the federal census was taken.

At the age of 30, George married 17-year-old Flora McAllister (1898-1985), a native of West Virginia.

The pair produced two known sons, Harry R. White Sr. and James White.

They established a residence in Hazelwood near Pittsburgh at 315 Path Way. George was employed for three decades as a signalman for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad.

Sadly, just four days before his 67th birthday, George was stricken with a heart attack and died suddenly at home on Aug. 20, 1952. Interment was in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills, south of Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published an obituary, which stated that he "was born and lived all his life in the Hazelwood district."

Flora lived for another three-plus decades after her husband's death. She died on March 10, 1985, with funeral services held in Hazelwood. A short death notice was printed in the Post-Gazette.
