Nett-Helen Letters

Letter from Sue (McCarty) White to Helen - Late 1889

Return to Index

[Probably written July-December 1889]

Oh yes there is one thing I forgot to ask you about. And that is about that satteen dress you sent Nettie by Pa. She did not get it made for a long time after you sent it. I think she never wore it but once or twice. I never saw her with it on. Now what I want to know of you is what shall we do with it now. it is too good and nice to cut up & it will rot & fall to pieces before the children can wear it as it is. now Jennie can wear it with very little fixing & she needs it for they dont get her any to many. Now, I did not want to do anything with it without your concent as you gave it to her. Now we have used some of her clothes for the children for they needed them and I thought no one had a better right to them than they. Dick told me to use anything I could for he did not believe in keeping things that could be used. I think as he does about that. But the Children dont need that. I have never said anything to the rest for I want to know what you say. I will do as you say. Of course they each have a keepsake that was hers. Well now I have written more then I thought I would. I expect you will get tired of reading so much but I ment to have mentioned this before but forgot it every time I would write for I always have so much to tell. but if I could see you I could tell more than I can write.

I thank you for the compliment of my nieces & nephews. how I would love to see them all. I do hope the time will come when I can see them. All I know I would not know Wills girls but I would [illegible] boys.

I want Wills family [group?] & then I can see them all. I have Carries family she sent me last fall. Well I must go to bed so good night.

Sue
