My dear Sister & family Isabel Kans Bears folks write of several cases of typhoid fever around there but I do hope none of your little family will get it. We are all well. Mabel has a cold but not a very bad one. at least she dont complain. & is very busy playing & talking to herself all the while. Blanch is on the bed sleeping & is well & has got a tooth. a little pearly white toothie. & will have another before long I think. Dick is reading his paper. Pa & Late is taking a too days Holliday so that leaves Dick & I to be old man & woman all around. there was a big Barbaque & fair & Republican speeking all combined at Ninnescah yesterday. & him & Late got in the buggie & struck out bright & early. Sue & Less & Carters also went but did not intend to come home but Pa & Late went with the intentions of comeing back last night but failed to show up so if they went to Websters too they had a little sod house full sure. Charlie took the advantage of the low rates & went to Ohio. & we heard Charlie & Sall did also. well I wonder how she made up her mind to go.
Winfield Maxwell steped in on us friday evening & he went with them up there so that made seven big ones from this shore. & not one of them has got back. I expect they have got on a too cent bum or got so much of the free whiskey they cant get home. Yes sir Winfield Scott come right in on us. he stoped at the road about Sundown & asked Late if Lester White lived here & after he went on Late come in & said he that his voice sounded like Hi Matthis but his whiskers was to heavy & dark for His. so after dark Late & Dick went to Spelling School at the School house & I had got the baby & Mabel to bed & was just going to wash the Supper dishes. Less & Ed Carter & this man come in & made a grab for Pa & asked him if he knew him. Pa looked him all over up & down & said no he didn’t. well then it was Nett do you know him & I said yes I think its Winfield Maxwell. & I knew him by the picture that Less has. he has a real heavy mustach & chin whiskers & would [be] quite bald headed if it wasnt for some long long locks he combs up over his Bald spot. my goodness he is the awfulest talker I ever saw. his tongue is loose at both ends. & I know he is awful rough to when he wants to be. he lives in Lyons Rice Co this state. he is a Real Estate man. has been all over creation. has been all around us lots of times but never knew till that evening he come that we lived here & said he was enquiring the road of a lady between this & Sawyer & she spoke Lester Whites name & he asked her if she was certain it was Lester & she was. & he said he was almost astonished out of his eyes for he had lost all trace of us. he is [illegible] from his [illegible] for he is as conceity as any. quite a business man. has bought four farms this week on his own hook & was on the track of another one. till he found us. he has five children. his oldest boy is 20 & a big a man as Less will finish his education this year. Well I cant tell you any more about him for I have not seen him since that night. Dick & I had been to the Lodge that day & I was so tired I hardly knew what he was talking about. Dick & Mabel is at the cupboard & Blanch has woke up again. I might had more wrote but Jen & Nelly Roby come up just after I got commenced & bothered me a while. Mabel has come with a sweet tater in one hand & a knife with some butter in the other & now this sheet is full & I must get another. ho ho
