The 44th Laughery Reunion of the family of David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh was held on Saturday August 16th, 2008, at the home of Rell and Dayna Winand, in West Chester PA. The 26 members in attendance gathered around 1:00 PM and enjoyed good fellowship until dinner was served. The weather was great, clear in the low 80's and low humidity.

Ron shared a devotional "God's Cake" which was followed by Grace. Everyone enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill prepared by Rell and lots of good side dishes brought by the members.

After dinner our President, Tim Douglas brought our business meeting to order with a moment of silence for our deceased members. There was one new birth, Isabella Erin Fickinger, born to the proud parents of Jennifer Winand Flickinger and John Ryan Flickinger. Jennifer is the daughter of Steve Winand.

Loretta discussed the Harbaugh Reunion and the Minerd Reunion Website. She is also making an album with pictures of the gravesites where many of the family members are buried. A new marker has been placed in Hollywood Cemetery at the grave of Jimmy Laughery, brother of Loretta, Peggy and David Laughery. Loretta would like information on what caused the death of David Leander Laughery.

A meeting place for next year’s Reunion was discussed and it was decided to hold the Reunion at Wilmer Park in Chestertown, MD. Steve and Janice Winand will make the arrangements with the Park committee. It will be held on the 3rd or 4th weekend in August dependant on the availability of the Park.

Dayna Winand volunteered to send out the invitations. The balance in our treasury was $62.00. $50 was paid out for postage and chair rental, leaving a balance of $12.00. Dues were collected $60.00 leaving a balance of $72.00.

Nancy and Susie had some games for the children and adult members. Everyone had a good time and we hope to have more in attendance next year.
