The sixth annual reunion of the descendants of David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh was held on Sunday, August 16, l970 at the home of Willis and Dorothy Laughery.  The day was sunny and hot, but a nice breeze made it quite pleasant. The buffet dinner and games which followed were greatly enjoyed by thirty-nine guests attending. William Wilkerson arrived later in the afternoon and was in time to join in eating the delicious homemade ice cream.  Bill’s arrival made a total of forty guests.

The games played were as follows:

• Candy Piñata
• Burst the Balloon
• Spoon Cotton Balls out of the bowl on top of head (won by JoAnn Thompson and Chris Moore)
• Passing the ball of string with a spoon-attached from one team member to the next (spoon on string must go down one member and up on the next)
• Unwrap Carmel with gloved hands-prize!  Each team member could eat his caramel.
• Red Rubber Crab Game
• Beans in a jar (won by John Winand)

Door Prizes won-

• Oldest - William Wilkerson - sprinkling can
• Traveling longest distance - Ira Laughery - sprinkling can
• Youngest - Lisa Laughery – beach ball

Since the only officer present was Willis Laughery, Vice President, a short business meeting was held. Ruth Laughery suggested that money be taken from the treasury to purchase an aluminum table for Willis and Dorothy Laughery to replace the wooden tables used at the reunions.  Loretta Downes seconded the motion and all agreed.  A motion was made by Lois Winand and seconded by Loretta Downes that all officers elected for the year 1970 retain their office for 1971.  The suggestion was also made that when the secretary sends out notices for the reunion in 1971, to remind the elected of their offices. The business meeting was adjourned and all agreed it had been a very happy day. The Treasury balance is $39.34.
