The twenty-ninth annual family reunion of the descendants of David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh was held on August 15, 1993, at Killen’s Pond State Park. It was a lovely day. Susie Thompson Powell, president, welcomed the guests. Ronald B. Case asked the blessing. The picnic style lunch of homemade foods was enjoyed by all. The business meeting was called to order with each head of family introducing his/her own family and guests. During the year of 1993, Loretta L. Downes responded to a letter from Ray and Marilyn Laughery of Rockwood, Pennsylvania. They were invited and attended the reunion. Ray also brought his daughter, Jennifer, and his son, Don and Don’s wife, Mary. Nancy and Buck Thompson invited them to spend the weekend at their home in Milford. Marilyn had been researching the Laughery genealogy and found that our great-grandfather and Ray’s great-grandfather were brothers. Keith Winand read a nice letter bringing us to date with the latest on Lois, Harry and Ruth Winand now residing in Florida. Loretta L. Downes read letters from Karen and Matt Holman or Sarasota, Florida, and Wilma and Gene Ream of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania, expressing regrets for having to miss this year’s reunion. In the absence of the secretary/treasurer, Debbie Webb, due to illness, the treasurer’s report and minutes were read by Loretta L. Downes. The annual dues of $5 per family were collected. A total of 36 family members were present. New business was covered with:
David, Vicky and Sheila Laughery of Seaford invited everyone to come to their home for the 1994 reunion. Election of new officers for 1994:
A lot of old pictures and album were displayed. Don, Mary, Marilyn and Ray Laughery identified family members unknown to the rest of us. These pictures were from a collection belonging to Dorothy and Willis Laughery. It was amazing how much Ray looked like Ira Laughery. The Winand family was in charge of the games and entertainment, which was enjoyed by all. At the close of the day, we had on hand a balance of $118. To start the 1994 reunion, we would appreciate any suggestions on putting part of this money to good use.
